Associate professor Robert Stankovsky (*5 August, 1964) - late principal director of Slovak Radio Symphonic Orchestra was a graduate of Bratislava Conservatory and University of Music Arts (the best graduate of the Conservatory, the prize of the rector at UMA). He studied also during master courses at G. Devosa in Paris. During his studies he was considered an extremely talented and ambitious performer of young generation of conductors. He is the winner of statewide conducting competitions in Hradec Kralove. After graduating he started working as the conductor of Chamber Opera in Bratislava and state philharmonic in Kosice. He was the conductor of Symphonic Orchestra of the capital Prague FOK, permanent guest of Radio Philharmonie Leipzig and principal
conductor of Chamber philharmonic in Pardubice. Till January 2001 he was active as the principal conductor of Slovak Radio Symphonic Orchestra. He cooperated with the Czech Philharmonic and with radio orchestra in Kőln and Rein. He conducted in the USA, Japan and many European countries. He cooperated also with many foreign orchestras (Leipzig, New York, Bronx, Bolzano, Novosibirsk etc.). He recorded 36 CDs especially for foreign companies. Together with the Slovak philharmonic orchestra he carried out a recording for TV NHK Tokyo. As an opera conductor he cooperated since 1997 with opera scenes in French towns of Rouen and Caen. He taught as the associate professor at the University of Music Arts in Bratislava.
